What a pleasant surprise.

Yesterday I was met with the news that a corporate intern was heading back to university and that our time working together was at an end. A pretty common experience if you deal with larger clients that have post secondary education links in the community. But what set this apart was a particularly kind letter that outlined how much easier it made her life to work with me over the last four months. The contents of the email are written below, with permission;

Hi Mark,
As my internship comes to an end, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for all your support over the past few months.
It was a pleasure working with you on various creative projects throughout the summer. One thing I always appreciated was your incredible speed and flexibility. No matter how tight the timeline or how many revisions came up, you were always willing to jump in, adapt quickly, and help us find a solution. Your responsiveness made a huge difference, especially on projects that required quick turnarounds.
Beyond delivering great work, you were always easy to work with and brought a positive attitude to every interaction. It made even the most urgent projects feel manageable.
Thank you for all the time, effort, and creativity you contributed to the projects we worked on together. I learned a lot from seeing how efficiently and professionally you approached your work, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have collaborated with you.
Wishing you all the best and thank you again for helping make my internship experience such a positive one.

Oddly enough this isn’t the first such email I have received of this nature, but I won’t post the others as they are years out of date. Ha! But the sentiment stands, and I’m proud of that, even if I toot my own horn. What a gracious way to spend the 100th day of the secondary achievement streak from JetPack, and day 862 of my overall latest writing streak for this blog.

A huge welcome to Thursday. Lots going on today. Spouse returns to work in a matter of minutes. Eldest daughter has a proper hair appointment today with Grandma, for her return to class ten days time. I’m waiting on approvals to send some client files off, and have some groceries to put away, and general house cleaning to do. The dog, well… He has his standing date at the farm for a walk with his girlfriend so he’s covered for the day too.

Either it is extremely dewy this morning or we had rain last night. One way or the other it looks pretty damp outside. Green growing grass to match my happy mood.
