Morning stroll with a view.

Different corn field view this morning. (Fig 1.)

Walking with a new guest today, so we are visiting different portions of the farm with our friend. The corn continues to look healthy. It’s another mild day with full sun and a steady breeze. The children only have two full days of school, plus a half day left to go and then we will be headlong into summer break 2026! Holy-cow! The nights were long but the days were short these last couple of months. Before you know it we’ll have another birthday party, the actual birthday, a wedding anniversary, then the Canada Day long weekend, and POOF! first week of summer gone in a snap. It really is kind of amazing just how fast time seems to zoom by once the weather gets warm and sunny.

I spent a little time last night pulling up interlock stone to fill in some washed out spots, and attempt to level out a significant depression. I used one 16L pail of crushed dustless stone and wouldn’t you know it, after I put it all back together again I probably could have used another 4L of stone, and about 4 times as much sand to level it out properly. The sun was setting and it was a stop gap measure and not really a final repair. But it’s done and a bit safer than before, which is good because we are hosting a pool party this afternoon. I don’t want any mashed toes from guests if we can help it.

We likely need to head over to mop & vacuum some more in order to get the inlaws house ready for eight visiting kids all wearing soaking wet bathing suits! Grass was mowed. Patio was cleaned up with a weed eater. I reset some stones. Chairs are out and the deck can be reorganized to suit the occasion. Still a few hours worth of work left to do. Then a school pick up run to gather children to the house to kick things off.

Taking a moment to enjoy the silence before this afternoon’s screaming, shrieking, and shrill noise level gets up to an ear drum splitting decibel level. Take peace where you can find it.
