You get the morning of (obviously) and one more day where it feels like you’ve been given that additional hour, by day three your schedules are all shifted and that lie in feeling is no longer the case. Shame that. I love trying to go to bed a little earlier in order to keep that feeling going. Does make for a shorter evening once the kids have finally gone to bed, but I do love me some sleep. Provided it’s restful quality sleep that is.
So now it’s November and the year of 2026 is shrinking into the rearview mirror, eh? Right. Once you hit September it still feels like there’s a whole year to go, but the wheels come off and the pace becomes heightened and it’s a race to January 1st. Weird feeling. The kids are now asking about erecting the Christmas tree, and if 8 can get up on the house to put up the exterior lights. You know what, it’s sunny & warm so I just might! Not going to plug them in, but to do all that labour in a t-shirt with no numb fingers is a terrific boon. Worth being a tad early for in my opinion.
My inlaws only finished decorating for Halloween on the Saturday so they aren’t willing to take it down to put up lights in the warm weather. I was decorated by the 7th, so I was happy to see all the Halloween stuff go on the first of the month. I’d had my fill. Same with the kids. I’ll wager the inlaws stuff stays up until this weekend or early next week.
While I will put up exterior lights, we’ll not do the tree or music until after Remembrance Day on the 11th. By 12 noon all bets are off! And I’ll be singing and decorating the inside of the house like a holiday fiend. A big lead up to the holiday in an attempt to build some sense of Joy/Wonder for the whole family.
I should get this dog walk started, and then go find my lights, ladders and cords. Happy Monday to you all.
