Goooood Morning! Down on the farm.

Lovely morning to split wood. (Fig 1.)
Taking in the scenery during our morning walk. (Fig 2.)

It’s a terrific day of 14°C right when I woke up, and the wood was coming apart without too much fuss, and the dog was barking into the woods with his hackles up from neck to tail, so we cut the stroll short and got directly to the axe swinging, whilst making a hell of a lot of noise. I don’t know if it was the local bear, or the coyotes causing my dog to get riled up, but we moved along at pace to avoid any one on one confrontations. He then sat behind me and watched the tree line while I whacked on some rounds for an hour. I had to make a Teams call/meeting just after 10:15 am, so I couldn’t do a marathon session today. No worries. I got a solid sweat going anyway! I’ve made a good dent down the bottom of the pile. Still weary of those wasps in this unseasonal warmth. But once we frost over I have some neatly stacked bits that should come apart without too much fuss. A good morning’s worth of axe swinging will see that lot split in twain. Staying positive.

I have discovered an inordinate amount of straight up logs hurried in the pile, so they are being sorted into their own spot ready for my chainsaws. There’s lots there now, so I think it might get bucked and stacked to wait for next spring or fall. It’ll be a cool weather activity regardless. It has wound up being a lot more stacking, restacking, and processing of wood than I originally intended. Good think I’m making my way into the pile because now when I do go a sawing, there’ll be more than enough to warrant busting out all my PPE, fuel, files, wedges and more. Seemed kind of a waste to do it for five ten minutes, but now it’s more like an hour or two or more worth of work. I can dig it.

I’m in the middle of a new render so I have to get back to the paid work shortly. For now I think I’m done regaling you all with my stories. It’s Thursday, so take care out there the weekend is almost at hand.
