After yesterday’s lazy pace we are doing all of the things today.

Which included adding two new red strands of lights to the maple tree, two more blue strands to the variegated maple, digging up all eleven Dahlias, cutting down all seven hostas, pruning two of the three ornamental roses back to six-eight inch stumps, and erecting the Christmas light-up mouse & gecko. Then heading to the inlaws to dig up their backyard Dahlias, and moving the four potted fruit trees. Now it’s nearly time for lunch! A very productive morning in a chilly grey November.

That’s just about everything I had hoped to accomplish yesterday, so that I could have a lazy day today. I just swapped them for one another. Glad it isn’t also raining today. I don’t think I’ll go to the farm to saw any logs today, as I can do that on Tuesday. We’ll have to see about that. Changing gears over to chainsawing from axe swinging takes some effort. Also means I need to travel with gas cans in the vehicle which I’m not all that fond of. Although if I gas up both saws today and utilize both then I don’t need to bring actual gas cans with mixed fuel in the car. Fewer fumes is best. It’s the one time I wish we had a utility truck for that sort of thing.

I need to find my chaps, gloves, helmet with face shield, and scwrench, extra chains, wedges, and filing kit. I make it seem like more than it is. I’m just in the mood to swing my axes, and I’m not feeling the chainsaw bug just yet. It’s a lot of leaning over and bending. Not my favourite.

With any luck the van service will go over without too much fuss and I can go home without having to wait hours, or spending hundreds of dollars on parts & labour. Fingers are crossed for an inexpensive visit. It was making a real racket during the summer but now that I’ve booked the vehicle in , do you think that I can get the van to make those same noises? Nope. Did it for weeks, if not a couple months, I make the appointment and POOF!  Noise stops dead. It’s like magic.

I will pull up the front door wreath from the basement and that might be it for today. I look forward to putting up the tree on Wednesday afternoon. I want to add a few details to the house this year to really get us all in the holiday spirit. I fear my youngest may still be in the sprawling mess making crafts stage of her life, so my plans may have to wait another year or two. I’ll see if I can clean off the island and dinner table without the kids immediately trying to pile more junk on top. It’s a constant battle!
