The morning was not very productive but we found the time to do some things whilst apart. Wife walked the dog. I drove up to the John Deere dealership to pick up parts for the farm’s combines. Then I dropped the youngest daughter off at her cousin’s house for a playdate, while I took the oldest to go climbing. Picked her up on our way back home afterward, and now we’ll sit down to lunch. Not much but it was something. I then took all of my tools out of the van because it’s going in for service on Monday morning, and I needed to cut new rope handles for the AxeBox. No matter how long a length of rope you think you may need, odds are you need to make it longer. So I cut myself some nylon rope sections, melted the frayed/cut ends closed with a torch, and fed them through the box and knotted them in place. Now my original vision works like it should. Goody-goody.
My shoulders, forearms and hands are now very tired. I’ll be glad to get back to splitting wood on Tuesday if the weather holds up. I need to get my saws down to the farm one day soon to process are the hurried logs I’ve discovered. They could go into a big bonfire if we hosted some kind of outdoor family thing I guess, that wouldn’t upset me at all. The little six to eight inch logs aren’t really what I want to be splitting, so I won’t object if they got used up whole. I can find other larger items to process believe me.
We haven’t even gotten around to cleaning up the left over waste wood in Wood Pile One, so if this last pile sits in disarray for a few months I don’t think it’ll matter much. I could do more if I knew where certain vehicles were, and where to find the keys to move them around. I could do some of it with the farm trucks if I wanted to. I should look into doing just that. Instead of waiting I could go clean up on the rainy days when it’s not safe to hoist an axe. New plan for rain days folks! I’m excited. Love when things come together.
